The MIE School Primary program focuses on the development of Computational Thinking Skills using Arduino and other technologies such as Scratch and micro drones.
The program provides a pathway for students to learn how to:
- Make using electronics, Arduino and other technologies
- Integrate by connecting to wifi and databases
- Explore by using these skills and other technologies to solve real world problems in their communities.
This learning links to the Australian Curriculum Technologies and Science, teaching students about electrical circuits, computer programming and designing Arduino projects.
The program provides younger students with exposure to STEM activities and experiences, and also aims to change perceptions of STEM careers and university pathways.
The program has been successfully delivered in partner schools in the Fraser Coast, Gympie, Sunshine Coast, Caboolture and Moreton Bay regions. The MIE School team engaged with schools in rural Queensland in July 2021 as part of the MIE School Primary Rural Tour.
