Primary School- Based Sessions
The MIE School Primary program is innovative STEM-focused career and technical education (CTE) designed by teachers, for teachers. The program focuses on the development of Computational Thinking Skills using Arduino and other technologies such as Scratch and micro drones.
The program provides a pathway for students to learn how to:
- Make using electronics, Arduino and other technologies
- Integrate by connecting to wifi and databases
- Explore by using these skills and other technologies to solve real world problems in their communities.
I really enjoyed the MIE program and I am thankful for having the opportunity, I would love to learn more!
This learning links to the Australian Curriculum: Technologies, Science, Mathematics and Media Arts. Depending on the program, students may learn about electrical circuits, computer programming, designing Arduino projects, serious game creation and programming an autonomous drone.
The programs provide students in Primary school with exposure to STEM activities and experiences, and also aims to change perceptions of STEM careers and university pathways.
The program has been successfully delivered in partner schools in the Fraser Coast, Gympie, Sunshine Coast, Caboolture and Moreton Bay regions. The MIE School team engaged with schools in rural Queensland in July 2021 as part of the MIE School Primary Rural Tour.
