Presenter Profiles

Meet the UniSC students who are inspiring STEM aspirations across the UniSC regions.

Our presenters are all current students and graduates from UniSC, who are passionate about sharing their STEM skills with students, teachers and parents/carers in the community.

MIE Lab provides employment and networking opportunities with schools, business and industry across our campus regions, and in rural and remote locations. This opportunity helps to develop their confidence to talk about STEM, helping to bring about systemic change in STEM career uptake.

Diana Chirizzi
Diana Chirizzi

Diana went to school in the South Burnett region and is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at UniSC. She is a kind, knowledgeable teacher, and one of our lead Primary trained presenters on the Sunshine Coast. Diana inspires her students and supports their STEM learning whilst also improving her own skills. She loves seeing the passion for STEM that students have, including those students who didn’t even realise they had the passion to begin with.

Patrick Bailey
Patrick Bailey

Patrick went to school in Gympie and graduated with a Bachelor of Primary Education in early 2022. He is an inspiring, experienced presenter, and our Lead Trainer and Presenter. Patrick delivers lessons and teacher PD to students and teachers across multiple year levels and regions and loves to bring fun and interesting coding and robotics to students.

Lana Jeffs
Lana Jeffs

Lana went to school in the Moreton Bay region, and is our Regional Coordinator for Moreton Bay. She is currently studying a Master of Teaching (Secondary) at UniSC, is an experienced and dedicated MIE School Presenter and has teaching experience in both primary and secondary school settings. Lana loves seeing students develop knowledge and skills and being a part of their learning journey. 

Ash Otuana
Ash Otuana

Ash went to school on the Sunshine Coast and is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at UniSC. Ash is one of our lead primary presenters on the Sunshine Coast, he loves seeing how much students enjoy the lessons and that ‘lightbulb’ moment go off when they persevere through challenges and create something amazing. Ash is a charismatic teacher and is able to really connect with the students he teaches.

Jo Morgan
Jo Morgan

Jo went to school in New South Wales, and has recently completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) Honours at UniSC. She loves sharing her love of science and interacting with high school students, broadening their knowledge and learning from them too.

Sam Whale
Sam Whale

Sam went to school in Brisbane, he is an experienced Game Developer, very tech savvy and is one of our lead Primary trained presenters in Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions. Sam has gained incredible confidence this year delivering lessons in a wide range of schools across multiple regions, loves STEM and encouraging students who love STEM to pursue their passions.

Zainab Diamond
Zainab Diamond

Zainab went to school in New Zealand, and is our Regional Coordinator for the Sunshine Coast. She has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Primary Education from UniSC, and is a passionate, knowledgeable teacher, who has taken her skills and expertise in the Dig Tech space out to students in schools in rural Queensland. Zainab’s favourite part about being a presenter is hearing that moment where students see what they have created – the pure, and genuine, excitement and self pride.

Kimberley Purcell
Kimberley Purcell

Kimberley went to school on the Sunshine Coast, and is currently studying a Master of Teaching (Primary) at UniSC. She is a student-focused, dedicated teacher and one of our lead Primary trained presenters. Kimberley loves seeing the confidence and satisfaction that the experience of MIE lessons can provide students and the value of hands-on learning, which translates into highly relevant skills for students’ futures in STEM.

Grace Smith
Grace Smith

Grace went to school on the Sunshine Coast and is currently studying the Bachelor of Science (Honours) at UniSC. She is one of our Secondary presenters on the Sunshine Coast and loves learning, getting to meet students to talk all about science and would like to work in education one day.

Hayley Odewahn
Hayley Odewahn

Hayley went to school in New South Wales and is very close to completing her Bachelor of Primary Education at UniSC. She is a fun and engaging teacher who loves seeing each student achieve success during the lessons. Hayley always makes learning fun, and enjoys developing students’ positive dispositions towards STEM!

Amy Henderson
Amy Henderson

Amy went to school on Bribie Island and is currently studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education/ Bachelor of Arts at UniSC. Amy has experience teaching both primary and secondary students and enjoys being a part of a community that is passionate about teaching young people the skills and knowledge they may need in the future.

Olivia went to school on the Sunshine Coast, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Urban Design and Town Planning (Honours) at UniSC. She loves to share her passion for planning with students and inspire them to study at UniSC.

Jamie-Lee McKeen
Jamie-Lee McKeen

Jamie-Lee went to school in Mt Isa and is currently studying a Master in Education (Primary) at UniSC. She is our Presenter for the Sunshine Coast Community Robotics Club and loves using coding and robotics to engage young females in STEM subjects and challenging students to use their design, planning and collaboration skills.

Jade went to school in Brisbane and is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at the UniSC Fraser Coast campus. Jade has a passion for all things STEM, and enjoys bringing a different approach to learning into classrooms and delivering lessons that are fun and hands on.

Emma Hilsley
Emma Hilsley

Emma went to school in Kingaroy, Queensland and is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at UniSC. She is one of our Secondary presenters on the Sunshine Coast, teaching students about the brain’s structure and function. Emma enjoys talking to students about life after school, and career pathways.

Tammy went to school on the Sunshine Coast and is currently studying a Bachelor of Education Early Childhood at UniSC. Tammy is passionate about STEM and wants to become an amazing Early Childhood Teacher that inspires a life long passion for learning.
